I love transforming a breakfast staple to reflect the changing seasons. Oatmeal is a favorite in our household, and for good reason! Oats are packed with antioxidants that reduce inflammation and improve heart health by relaxing the arteries. They are also rich in soluble fiber, helping to regulate blood sugar levels. Additionally, oats have a demulcent quality that aids the skin in retaining moisture.

I like to make a big batch in the morning, allowing everyone to customize their bowls with their favorite toppings.

My go-to toppings are chopped walnuts, rose petal jam from Pure Indian Foods (so divine!), and a drizzle of maple syrup.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp ghee (or coconut oil)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp cardamom powder
  • ¼ tsp dry ginger powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup oat milk (any milk or plant-based milk works)
  • ½ – 1 tsp rose petal jam
  • ¼ cup chopped walnuts
  • Maple syrup

Method:

  1. Heat a pan over medium heat and add the ghee and spices. Let the spices warm up for 30 seconds.
  2. Add the oats and sauté for a minute.
  3. Pour in the water and oat milk, then cook according to the packaging instructions.
  4. Once the oats are cooked, sprinkle with chopped walnuts, ½-1 tsp of rose petal jam, and drizzle with maple syrup.

Enjoy!
